The movie "The Firm"
by Lady Lee ini've seen this movie a few times and recently read the book.
then i watched the movie again.
the author of the book, john grisham, paints a pretty accurate picture of "the firm" as a business cult.

Why did God kill Herod, a non Jew?
by truthseeker inwhy did god kill a non-jewish ruler?
acts 12:21-22.
21 and upon a day appointed, herod being arrayed in kingly apparel, sat in the judgment seat and made an oration to them.22 and the people made acclamation, saying: it is the voice of a god, and not of a man.23 and forthwith an angel of the lord struck him, because he had not given the honour to god: and, being eaten up by worms, he gave up the ghost.. .

Something like that.
When the crowd "gassed him up" by saying that phrase, he should have corrected them immediately. "All things by God's Power for His Glory," or something to that effect. He chose to do a Mussolini instead. -

People do what they want. You can justify just about any indirect business with them. It's all been done.
Several of my clients are ministers in other religions. That goes for many JWs with businesses. -

How to Endure Meetings Constructively - My Approach
by Room 215 ini occasionally attend sunday meetings, either just for curiosity or to placate my dear wife.
i've recently developed a method whereby i tune out all the proceedings from the platform and audience, and take to reading acts (i've just begun to learn a great deal about roman history via audio cds from the teaching company, which i listen to on my long commute to work).
the lecturers on these all highly praise the accuracy of the book of acts and all the gospels in general, in terms of their accurate depiction of life in judea and the hellensitic kingdoms under roman rule.

Oh, the pinch was mighty strong
from Gran'ma at the meetin'
Oh, the inattention: wrong,
my concentration: fleetin'.
Yes, I went to the lav
to splash water on my face.
But now I don't have any care:
I don't dare go near that place. -

How do civilizations "just go missing"?
by cameo-d inthe little stars *** are to show my comments on it along the way.. the vedas, the oldest texts of south asia, dating from some 3,500 years ago, made no mention of it, nor did the bible.
no pyramids or burial mounds marked the area as the site of an ancient power.
yet, 4,600 years ago, at the same time as the early civilizations of mesopotamia and egypt, great cities arose along the flood plains of he ancient indus and saraswati rivers in what is now pakistan and northwest india.

If you are looking for it for research purposes, it would actually be better to take each religion and look at all of the first page hits you get from a search engine, and read the material.
There are better sources on other religions than the Society's publication. -

Bethel assigned people in the past to read apostate books and literature, for their purposes.
It is only logical that they assign people to report on the various topics on apostate sites.
